Voices at the Vida: A Series “Abortion Visibility”
12. June 2019@15:00-17:00Free
My body, my choice, my never-ending fight for my own reproductive rights?
by Franziska Kabisch
Whether I end a pregnancy or not, should not even be up for discussion for others. Instead, abortions should be free – free of stigma, free of costs, free of prosecution and freely accessible for all! The fact that we still and again have to fight for our own reproductive rights has to do with patriarchs all over the world who want to control our bodies through forced birth, categorization, sterilisation, etc.
How can we – if queer, trans, cis, non-binary, female or male, wanting to have children or not – fight for free abortions, free self-determination and at the same time against cis-hetero-normativity? At the teach-in, we want to exchange about the access to abortions in Austria, the legal situation, possibilities of resistance and self-organization. Everybody is welcome, except for anti-choice-extremists.
Voices at the Vida
As a part of the grand opening of the Villa Vida, Villa Vida would like to take this opportunity to be an active contributor to the EuroPride festivities. They are offering educational programme regarding identity exploration, queer advocacy, and inclusivity in general and thus have curated talks/discussion groups regarding topics such as trans visibility, sexual health, safer sex practices, polyamory, as well as the queer history of Vienna and even queer deaf visibility.
The talks will be in German and/or English depending on the needs of the participants.
